︎ Tues Mar 02

Today is primarily a work day. We will check in at the start of class to go over Part 2 of Project 1. I will then see if anyone wants to share their progress with the class for feedback/critique. After that, we can break free and I will be available in zoom if someone wants individual help.

︎ Tues Feb 23

We will start class with a grid tutorial and then I can answer any questions you might have from the weekend. We will be having a guest lecture from the talented Zuli Segura. She has put together a wonderful talk.

 😀️

︎ Tues Feb 09

We will start class with a styetile tutorial. I’ll show you how I approach them. After this, we will break into smaller groups to talk through your wireframes and sitemap. Please post a link to your work-in-progress via InVision or Figma (share link in the p1 channel on slack). It is not required to make the wires clickable — unless you want to explore how it works.

︎ Tues Feb 02

This week we covered sitemap, wireframe, and styletile design. I would like you to explore different templates for sitemaps, and wireframes. There are a lot of resources online. I have collected some over the years, uploaded here.

To do︎ (before class Feb 9th)

        1. Pick a website you want to re-design. Again, this should be something meaningful to you. List out why you want to re-design it and some notes about the changes you would like to explore.

        2. Open up sketch, familiarize yourself with the interface. Start constructing your wireframe and sitemap. Bring something to share, or some questions. I’ll do my best to answer them.

Have a nice weekend!

︎ Tues Jan 26

Welcome! to GD 5350. Here you will be able to find the syllabus, project handouts, class notes, assignment prompts, and a variety of other class-related material. Check back to this site on the reg to stay informed.

To do︎ (before class Feb 2nd)

        1. Download Sketch, Figma, and InVision. All programs offer a free student edition. You will most likely have to provide an image of your school ID.

        2. Once you have the programs, open them up and start familiarizing yourself with the interface.

        3. Watch this video titled “What Screens Want” by Frank Chimero. Answer these questions and email me your answers (we will discuss as a class):

- What is your favorite website based on usability and design?

- What would you like to achieve in this class?

- What is Flux? and how do you see it incorporated into web/screen design?

- What do you think are the advantages / disadvantages of screen-design as opposed to print-design?
